Kennedy – 3 Types (Lyric Video)

Jack Kennedy, 22, started making YouTube videos as a teenager. At 14 years old, he became the youngest content creator to sign a partnership deal on the platform, and gained hundreds of thousands of subscribers while still in high school.

Born in San Diego, Kennedy spent his childhood and teenage years in beach-town Oceanside, California. At 18, he moved across the country to New York City to enroll in NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. While in college, he continued to make YouTube videos, and attracted over 70 million views to his channel. More than 500,000 viewers quite literally “grew up” with Jack on the internet. “Born in the west, raised by the internet.” – Summer Nights.

While earning a degree in Film & Television, Kennedy started his musical journey in NYC. In 2017, he released his first single Coming Thru. The track, originally created as a fun class project, quickly transformed into the start of something bigger. Despite lengthy breaks from the internet, Kennedy continues to release new music and post videos on YouTube. He takes creative inspiration from various artists, listing Atmosphere and Kid Cudi as his favorites.

With mellow guitar riffs, catchy melodies, relaxed vocals, honest lyricism, and unique rhyme schemes, Kennedy’s music encapsulates a new breed of west-coast hip-hop.

“3 Types” (Kennedy’s 4th single) explores a past relationship by discussing three different types of memories (Staying, fading, or already gone). Kennedy questions which of these three categories he falls into, and what exactly is responsible for creating (or erasing) a memory. The song is mellow, clean, melodic, with guitar riffs, and modern hip-hop elements. It encapsulates a “chill” pop-rap vibe, while paying homage to the west-coast lifestyle.
