In his new musical era, Mateo Kingman becomes a snake and constantly changes his skin. After a successful debut album ‘Respira’, he returns with more vocal and poetic power. ‘Religar’ is the first look at a more mature, honest and looking in Matthew to reach new sound destinations. Experiment, rhyme, make and undo. It moves and reaches the deepest layers of emotions.
‘Religar’ is the first single from the new album by Mateo Kingman, which will be presented in 2019. It is the mixture of deep and cosmic lyrics with an avant-garde, eclectic production, which explores with synthesizers, beats and root melodies. ‘Religar’ is “reincorporating the parts, returning to unity after having disintegrated”.
The theme will be available on all digital platforms on October 30.
The video of the song was directed by the filmmaker Ana Cristina Barragán. Mateo approached the director because “she has a sensitive look to address strong issues, with subtlety. We had a very deep connection at the time of writing the script and also when editing the material. Ana led three and a half minutes of fulminating and authentic feelings about the return to the essence of oneself. ”
The video was recorded in Quito and in the Valley of Chillos. Its director says that “it is the portrait of a group of teenagers who, in their faces and bodies, betray an inner wound that can not be seen, but it is intuited. Through the care of the other, the dance, disturbing games and snakes, the adolescents vent their feelings of abandonment and freedom, reaching a new state of euphoria, bonding with each other and with their own essence “.
About what it was like to work with Mateo, she mentioned that “he invited me to direct this project. He is a very sensitive, perceptive artist. We wrote the script together and I had the freedom I needed in the management process. It created a strong trust between the two. Directing a video clip is different from directing a movie, but I liked to work from the feeling provoked by such a powerful melody and lyrics. In addition to the creation of the visual universe, there was a deep rehearsal work and a search for authentic feelings that will go beyond the viewer in some way.”
