Best known for her song “Islands,” which has been streamed on Spotify more than 8 million times, alt/dream-pop artist Rynn has released her music video for her latest single, “Tokyo.”
For the “Tokyo” video, Rynn collaborated with director and “Young Hollywood” host Emily Kretzer to help bring the song to life. The pensive shots were filmed in Los Angeles and illustrate the song with artistically-enhanced naturalistic moments and dreamlike visuals. It was important for Rynn to have a female director help bring the song to life. “Working with Emily was an absolute dream,” says Rynn. “From our very first conversation I felt like she completely understood my vision. Emily knew exactly what I meant when I told her I wanted to create something super ethereal but also something with a vulnerable and grungier side as well. The video conveys the journey of moving through a heartbroken and darker phase of life. It’s about letting yourself truly reflect on and process depths of that emotion, but in that, finding a softness and a strength to move into a new place of freedom.”
